Georgia Tech has opened its new multi-tower complex in Midtown, designed with shared learning spaces that bring together business and engineering students.

Parkside Partners scoops up Midtown office tower in value-add play
Atlanta-based investment firm Parkside Partners purchased a 21-story building called The Peachtree at 1355 Peachtree St. near the High Museum of Art for an undisclosed sum.

SCAD AnimationFest Celebrates 10th Anniversary with New Indie Competition in Midtown
The three-day festival, held September 23-25 at SCAD Atlanta on Peachtree Street, featured screenings, industry panels, and a newly launched Indie Animation Shorts competition for projects under five minutes. SCAD animation professor Matt Maloney discussed the school's new stop-motion minor, while recent graduate Cecilia Mendoza showcased puppets from her short film "The Tooth Seed."

Audubon Capital Grabs Midtown Atlanta Apartment Asset Prior to Foreclosure
Audubon Capital took over the 322-unit Crest at Midtown complex at 215 North Ave. by assuming the remaining balance on a $70.9 million loan, avoiding a foreclosure sale. The property, developed by Equity Residential and completed in 2001, had been purchased by Liquid Capital Real Estate Investment for $85.2 million in November 2021.

Founder Kellie James described how her boutique cycling studio grew into a full wellness destination offering rhythm cycling, mat Pilates, and strength training. James appeared on ATL Live to discuss the brand's expansion and its focus on community building.

An electric—very electric—Shaky Knees
The 13th annual Shaky Knees festival brought acts including Geese, Danny Elfman, the Strokes, Gorillaz, Wu-Tang Clan, and Twenty One Pilots to Piedmont Park. A Saturday night thunderstorm with winds over 60 mph and hail forced a temporary evacuation of the park, but gates reopened by 9:20 p.m. in time for Twenty One Pilots to close out the night.

Viet-Cajun favorite Bon Ton closing its Midtown doors - Popular Viet-Cajun eatery Bon Ton on Myrtle Street is officially closing this week after serving fried seafood and craft cocktails in Midtown for years.

Atlanta City Council met this week, though the full council's minutes aren't published yet, so outcomes from that session aren't confirmed. The Committee on Council kept busy, though, voting 5-0 to recommend former Council President Felicia Moore for a seat on the City of Atlanta Ethics Board. Members also backed reappointments to the Atlanta Commission on Women and approved a new appointee to the Special Event Technical Advisory Group who brings experience coordinating event security at Piedmont Park. Several bigger changes stayed parked in committee, including proposed rules that would let residents speak in strict sign-up order during public comment, a charter amendment requiring every piece of legislation to name a primary council sponsor, and a push for an independent investigation into the city's contracts with Foris Webb III. A resolution asking Fulton and DeKalb election officials to station certified police officers at recreation centers used as polling sites also remains stuck without action, so don't expect movement on any of these fronts just yet.

- 1010 Spring St NW — Interior demolition permitted for a future restaurant. Crews will strip out existing walls and interior finishes, so expect noise and dust around Spring Street while the space gets gutted before rebuild.
- 1301 Peachtree St NE — Interior renovation filed for a multi-family unit, including new hardwoods, cabinetry, countertops, and paint. A routine refresh, but it signals continued turnover in the building's residential units.
- 999 Peachtree St NE — A second-generation office suite is getting demolished and rebuilt as a "white box" space, prepping it for a new tenant. This is standard high-rise office turnover, but it points to fresh leasing activity in the building.

- Potholes — Reported on N Ave and Angier Ave, 11th St NE and Juniper St NE, and 9th St NE. Two are already fixed, one's still in progress.
- Traffic Signal Repairs — Crews are handling non-emergency signal issues at Charles Allen Dr and 8th St, plus Ponce de Leon Ave and Myrtle St. One's done, the other's in progress.
- Sign Repair or Replacement — Requests are in for Avery Dr NE and 7th St and Peachtree St. Both remain in progress.
- Litter Removal — Right of way cleanup is underway on Spring St NW and Piedmont Ave NE.
