The session focused on officer elections and committee breakouts, setting up the structure students will use to raise issues and feedback throughout the year. This council exists to give students a real seat at the table on district decisions, so who gets elected to lead it shapes how much influence young people have over policy that touches your schools. No votes, budget items, or policy changes came out of this particular meeting. Permits

- 1050 Spring St NW — Crews are set to tear down the 2-story wooden structure at this address. Full vertical demolition means noise and likely lane closures on Spring Street while it's underway.
- 675 W Peachtree St NE — New construction wiring just got issued. This one's tied to a larger build, so expect ongoing construction activity here.
- 75 14th St NE — Demo work is stripping out non-original wall paneling, suspended ceilings, and millwork from a previous tenant's buildout, clearing the space for something new. The building also picked up a separate fire sprinkler relocation permit this month.
- 1180 W Peachtree St NE — A full floor buildout got the green light for an existing business suite. New walls and systems are going in, and it signals a new office tenant moving into the building soon.
- 864 Spring St NW — NCR Voyix is remodeling its fire sprinkler system on the 17th floor. Routine life-safety work, but a sign the tenant is investing in its space.
- 1331 Spring St NW — Fire sprinkler system additions and relocations are underway to meet current NFPA code.
- 1230 Peachtree St NE — Interior alterations are planned for a vacant office suite. No changes to the tenant demising walls, so this is prep work ahead of a new occupant.
- 1100 Peachtree St NE and 1021 Peachtree St NE — Both buildings filed for utility work, HVAC at one and a new gas line at the other. Standard maintenance, nothing disruptive expected.

Beyond these, another three dozen commercial permits came through for electrical, HVAC, and interior alteration work across the neighborhood, mostly small-scale and routine. On the residential side, it's quiet: a handful of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing permits, plus two arborist removals for dead or hazardous trees.

Road Work

Under Construction
- SR 8 Resurfacing (SR 8 & SR 8 WE, SR 3 to SR 42) — GDOT is repaving this stretch of SR 8 to fix its low pavement quality score. Expect standard resurfacing delays if you're on this route.
- Bridge Preservation, 7 Locations (Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton) — Crews are overlaying bridge decks, painting steel beams, and replacing joints at multiple sites across the metro, including the Moreland Ave/US 23 bridge.
- SR 13 Resurfacing (SR 9 to North Fork Peachtree Creek) — This corridor hasn't been repaved since 2012, and GDOT is finally redoing the surface now.
- Buford Spring Connector Tunnel Lighting (I-85) — Crews are swapping out old sodium lighting for LED fixtures in the tunnel, with possible conduit and wiring work too.
- I-75 Corridor Lighting (I-85 to Memorial Drive) — GDOT is upgrading lighting along this whole stretch of I-75 to LED, which means new poles and conduit work. If you drive this section after dark, plan for occasional lane shifts.
- SR 9 Resurfacing (SR 3 to north of Paces Ferry Rd) — Another low-score pavement job, this one repaves SR 9 through the corridor.
- I-75 Tunnel Lighting at Ralph McGill Blvd and Baker Street — Two separate tunnel lighting upgrades are underway here, switching from old HPS lights to LED. Both involve possible wiring and conduit replacement, so expect some off-peak lane closures near these tunnels.
- SR 3/US 41 Intersection Improvements (Tech Pkwy to Hemphill Ave) — GDOT is reworking the intersection cluster where Northside Drive meets 14th Street and Hemphill Avenue, aiming to simplify signal timing and traffic flow. If you cut through this area, expect shifting lane patterns while construction continues.

Service Requests

Traffic signals kept crews busy this week, with 11 non-emergency repair calls hitting Juniper St, Williams St, and John Lewis Freedom Pkwy, among other intersections. Add in 3 emergency-level signal repairs at 10th & Charles Allen, Peachtree & 15th, and W Peachtree & 15th, and you've got a neighborhood where drivers should stay alert at intersections through the area.

Potholes showed up on 11th St at Piedmont Ave, 11th St NE, and Spring St NW, all still in progress. Ponce de Leon Ave NE and Saint Charles Ave NE saw litter pile up, with most of it already cleared. And Myrtle St NE had two separate issues: an overgrowth problem that's been resolved and a downed tree that's now cleared.
