If you’re thinking about a residential renovation to create a space that’s comfortable, memorable, and personalized for you, look no further than Rally Built Homes. Learn more here.
Seven townhomes filed at one Antone St address, a major solar install on Howell Mill, and GDOT reshaping the 14th St corridor
Permits
- 701 Antone St NW — New townhome construction filed, twice. One permit covers 3 attached units, another covers 4. That's 7 townhomes on a single address working through the approval process, both currently flagged for additional materials. Worth watching as they clear review.
- 1506 Howell Mill Rd NW — A 104-module, 61+ kW rooftop solar array is going in. One of the larger commercial solar installations you'll see permitted in this area.
- 1968 Marietta Rd NW — Fire sprinkler systems are being installed in Phases 2 and 3 of a commercial space. Phased buildout suggests a larger project still in progress.
- 1055 Howell Mill Rd NW — Interior work is underway on a first-generation business office suite. An existing tenant is staying put while the renovation adds to the space.
- 1548 Walthall Ct NW — A residential second-story addition is in review, adding 262 square feet with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, an office, laundry room, and basement access.
Beyond these, the area saw 27 additional notable permits, mostly new multifamily construction and commercial HVAC and electrical work. Another 34 routine residential permits covered electrical, HVAC, and plumbing across the neighborhood.
Road Work
Under Construction
- SR 3/US 41 Intersection Improvements (Fulton County) Work is underway at the cluster of Northside Drive, 14th Street, and Hemphill Avenue. GDOT is simplifying the intersection layout to give traffic signals more flexibility. If you cut through Home Park or head toward Georgia Tech this way, expect some disruption around that corridor.
- I-75 Lighting Upgrade, Musket Ridge Drive to I-85 (Fulton County) Crews are swapping out the old high-pressure sodium lights along this 1.8-mile stretch for LED fixtures, which may also mean pole and conduit replacements. Night driving through here may look a little different while work continues.
- SR 9 Resurfacing, SR 3 to North of Paces Ferry Road (Fulton County) GDOT is repaving SR 9 to bring the road surface back up to standard. If this is part of your regular route, you'll want to watch for lane restrictions and loose traffic control in the work zones.
- Bridge Preservation at Multiple Locations, Cobb, DeKalb, and Fulton Counties This multi-county project covers co-polymer overlay, steel beam painting, and bridge joint replacement at seven locations across the region. One Fulton County site is included, so keep an eye out for flaggers and lane shifts if you're crossing bridges along major corridors nearby.
- Buford Spring Connector Tunnel Lighting Upgrade (Fulton County) LED fixtures are going in to replace aging tunnel lighting. Conduit and wiring work may also be part of the scope. If you use this connector to reach I-85, give yourself a little extra time.
Utility Work
Atlanta Watershed
- West Wesley Road 24-Hour Closure for Sewer Main Maintenance — Work is getting done at West Wesley Road NW starting today and going through 7/20 for sewer main maintenance. Plan an alternate route if you travel through that stretch.
Service Requests
Traffic Signal Repairs — Eight emergency-level signal issues were reported between June 29 and July 2 at Bolton Rd & Barnett Dr (three reports), Northside Dr NW & 14th St NW, Marietta St & Andrew Young International, 10th St & State St, and other locations. A non-emergency signal repair is also underway at 17th St & Market St.
Overgrowth — Visibility issues from overgrowth were reported at Marietta Rd & Ellen St.
Litter Removal — A right-of-way cleanup was requested on Ridgemore Rd NW.
